According to an article by the Associated Press, the Oscar Mayer Weinermobile was being driven around by a 22-year-old driver. She was attempting to turn the hot dog around when she then drove into the home. She said she thought she put the car in reverse to back out of the home’s driveway, but was actually in drive, causing her to drive right into the home when she pressed the gas. The home’s owner, Nick Krupp, was not at home when police came to the scene Friday evening. No one was injured. The home and the car "suffered moderate damage" from the accident, the report said.

25 Year Old Charged with DUI after Accident on the Stevenson Expressway

According to an article from wgnradio.com, a 25 year old man was charged with DUI after driving the wrong way on the Stevenson Expressway, which lead to a head-on crash. The driver was charged with aggravated driving under the influence. Three people were injured in this crash. The driver was also charged with driving the wrong way, along with the drunk driving charges.

Former Boxing Champion, Arturo Gatti, Killed; Wife Suspected

According to an article written by the Associated Press and posted in Yahoo Sports, Arturo Gatti was killed early Saturday. Brazilian authorities detained Gatti's 23 year old wife after she made contradicting statements during her interrogation. She was the first to find the body. It appears that Gatti was strangled with the strap of a purse, which was found with blood stains. His wife was unable to explain how she spent nearly 10 hours inside the vacation home without noticing that her husband was dead. Witnesses say the couple had an argument on Friday night and that Gatti was drunk. A close friend of Gatti's and four-time world champion Brazilian boxer, Acelino "Popo" Freitas, said he "knew they were having some sort of problem and were about to separate.” The couple had a 1 year old son together.

Steve McNair found Murdered

According to an article by the Associated Press posted on Yahoo, former NFL quarterback Steve McNair was found murdered on Saturday, July 4th. He was shot twice in the head and twice in the chest. His 20-year-old girlfriend was also found dead at his feet from a single bullet. "McNair had been dating Sahel Kazemi for several months, and Nashville police spokesman Don Aaron said Sunday that a semiautomatic pistol was found under her body. She was shot in the head."

Police are investigating whether or not this could have been a murder-suicide or a lovers' quarrel. Sahel was recently charged with DUI while driving in a 2007 Cadillac Escalade that was registered to her and McNair. Steve McNair was in the car with her when they were pulled over. Sahel Kazemi's sister, Soheyla, and several other family members believed McNair was getting a divorce to be with Sahel, yet there is no record of any McNair divorce case in Nashville. Soheyla Kazemi said that her sister expected McNair to get a divorce and she thought they were planning to get married.

Steve McNair is survived by his wife of 12 years, Mechelle McNair, and his four sons.

Kane County to Have No-Refusal DUI Enforcement for 4th of July Weekend

According to an article in the St. Charles Republican, John Barsanti, the Kane County State's Attorney will work with local police this 4th of July weekend in an attempt to hold suspected drunken drivers accountable, even if they refuse to submit to breath tests. There will be additional police officers on Friday and Saturday looking for possible drunk drivers. There will also be a "streamlined process" in place for obtaining search " a warrant for a blood sample if an alleged drunken driver refuses a test to determine the alcohol concentration of their blood, breath or urine." The locations of the operation have not been announced. A grant from the Kane County DUI Task Force is funding the operation.

Waukegan IL Judge to Stand Trial for DUI

According to an article in the Chicago Sun-Times, Lake County Judge David Hall will stand trial for DUI on September 28.
Prior to the trial, attorneys will have a hearing on a motion to dismiss the Judge's blood alcohol tests.

Hall is a former chief judge of the 19th Judicial Circuit. He was charged with DUI, resisting arrest, improper lane usage, and making an improper turn. The Illinois Attorney General's office is prosecuting the case. Hall was treated at a hospital for injuries sustained during an apparent struggle with police. At that time blood was drawn for blood alcohol tests. Breath alcohol tests were not conducted at the scene of the arrest.

Hinsdale IL Police Cracking Down on DUI

According to an article by the Hinsdale Suburban Life, the Hinsdale Police Department will be staffing additional patrol officers through July 6 as part of an Illinois Department of Transportation initiative to crack down on drunken drivers. IDOT provides gran funding for the program, which began June 19 and ends July 6. Hinsdale Deputy Police Chief, Mark Wodka said that any motorist suspected of being impaired, whether or not they prove to have an alcohol blood level higher than the legal limit, are subject to arrest. “Because of our policy our officers are not allowed liberal discretion in administering tickets. If a motorist is suspected of drinking, we make a DUI arrest,” Other traffic violations, such as speeding, will be enforced as well, Wodka said.

Stallworth Suspended Indefinitely by NFL

According to an article in Yahoo Sports, Cleveland Browns wide receiver Donte' Stallworth was suspended indefinitely by the NFL after pleading guilty to DUI manslaughter this month. Stallworth struck and killed a pedestrian who was crossing the street to catch a bus. Stallworth was sentenced to 30 days in jail, two years on house arrest, and 8 years of probation. He must also undergo drug and alcohol testing. His driver’s license was suspended for life and he must perform 1,000 hours of community service. Police said that Stallworth had a blood alcohol level well above the legal limit.

Teen Faces Felony Charges In Fatal DUI

According to an article in the Chicago Tribune, a teen faces four counts of reckless homicide and 12 counts of aggravated driving under the influence in Kane County after he crashed into two trees, killing a passenger in his car and injuring two other passengers. Blood tests showed the driver had a blood alcohol level of .227 and that the driver also had marijuana in his system. Bail was set at $500,000 and, should he post bail, he is ordered to surrender his passport and be outfitted with an alcohol-monitoring anklet.

Teen Charged With Drinking By Buffalo Grove Police

According to an article in the Chicago Tribune a teenager was charged with underage possession and consumption of alcohol while attending a party on the 1200 block of Westchester Road. Buffalo Grove police administered a blood alcohol test and the teen had a blood-alcohol level of 0.230.
